Chinese Premier Li hosts Jordanian King Abdullah in Beijing

Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Jordan's King Abdullah II in Beijing on Monday to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral relations in key economic sectors, the Jordanian Royal Court announced on US social media company X.

During the meeting, the Jordanian king highlighted China's role as a vital economic partner, affirming that Jordan has "much to offer" in bilateral cooperation and that substantial opportunities exist to expand mutual trade and investment.

King Abdullah’s state visit, his ninth trip to China overall and his first since 2015, concludes Monday, following high-level engagements with Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping.

China serves as Jordan's largest trading partner, with bilateral trade volume reaching around $6.7 billion.

Separately, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi, who is accompanying the king on his visit.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen strategic ties ahead of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year, according to a statement by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Safadi reiterated Jordan’s firm adherence to the one-China principle and praised Beijing’s constructive diplomatic role in the region.

Turning to regional developments, Wang emphasized that the Palestinian issue remains at the core of Middle East stability and must not be marginalized.

He called for continued dialogue toward securing a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, while Safadi stressed the necessity of a two-state solution and welcomed China’s support for Arab peace efforts.
