Several killed, injured in tour bus crash in Switzerland

Several people were killed and others injured Thursday after a tour bus crashed in eastern Switzerland, according to police.

Graubunden cantonal police first reported the accident at around 6.30 pm local time (1630GMT), saying a tour bus had crashed between the municipalities of Susch and Zernez and that several emergency services had been deployed.

Police later confirmed in a post on US social media platform X that “several people” had died and several others were injured. Authorities did not immediately provide an exact number of casualties or details about the cause of the crash.

The bus reportedly belonged to a tour operator from the Netherlands and was carrying a group of 48 people, according to Swiss newspaper Blick, citing a spokesperson for ANVR, the umbrella organization for the Dutch travel industry.

The majority of those on board were Dutch nationals, according to the report.

The group had begun its journey on Monday, though its departure point and destination remained unclear.

Police established a hotline for relatives and consulates seeking information about the accident.
