Explosion reported at Syrian army site west of Deir ez-Zor

An explosion took place Friday at a Syrian Arab Army site west of the Deir ez-Zor province, with authorities investigating its cause and assessing the impact, according to the Syrian Defense Ministry.

The ministry’s Media and Communications Department said that an explosion occurred at one of the army’s sites in the Ayash area, west of Deir ez-Zor, according to Syria’s Alikhbariah television.

The cause of the explosion is being investigated and the resulting damage is being assessed, the ministry said.

The broadcaster said ambulances and civil defense teams were heading to the site of the explosion.
