Qatari premier, senior Fatah official discuss developments in occupied Palestinian territories

Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani o discussed developments Tuesday in the occupied Palestinian territories, including the Gaza Strip, with Jibril Rajoub, secretary-general of the Palestinian movement Fatah's Central Committee.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said the meeting addressed cooperation and ways to support and strengthen it, as well as developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, and several issues of mutual interest.

Al Thani reaffirmed Qatar’s support for the Palestinian people and their cause, stressing the need to end the division and consolidate Palestinian unity in a way that helps the Palestinian people achieve their legitimate national rights.

He said those rights include the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The meeting came as part of Rajoub's visit to Qatar, according to the statement.

The discussions come amid continued Israeli attacks on Gaza, and escalating Israeli army and occupier attacks in the occupied West Bank, including killings, displacement and settlement expansion.

Israel has killed nearly 74,000 Palestinians and injured more than 174,000 in a genocidal war in Gaza since Oct. 8, 2023. It has also destroyed 90% of the enclave’s infrastructure.
