ISTANBUL
The Saudi air defenses intercepted and destroyed three more drones over Riyadh and the Eastern Province, raising the total number to 64 since early Monday, the Saudi Defense Ministry’s spokesperson said on US social media company X.
Earlier on Monday morning, the Saudi Defense Ministry, in separate posts on X, made announcements on intercepting and destroying drones over the Eastern Province.
In total, the Saudi air defenses have intercepted and destroyed 64 drones since Monday morning across Riyadh and the Eastern Province, according to the statements.
Since Israel and the US launched joint attacks on Iran on Feb. 28, so far killing around 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, hostilities have escalated.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
