Palestine granted with "non-member observer state" status by the UN last year voted for the first time in UN General Assembly on Monday for the election of judges to be appointed to the International Criminal Tribune for former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
The UN General Assembly on Monday elected members of the ICTY, a court making inquiries on violations of international law in former Yugoslavia lands after 1991.
In the elections for ICTY, three judges contested and in accordance with the structure of ICTY the non-member observer states are given the right to vote for it.
In this context besides 193 member states of the UN Palestine also voted as observer state.
Palestinian permanent observer to UN Riyad Mansour voted as the representative of Palestine.
