Three security officers were injured in a terrorist PKK attack in the southern province of Mardin late Sunday, a security source said.
The attack took place at the offices of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party in the Kiziltepe district, and three security guards on duty at the building were hurt by improvised explosive and shooting by the terrorists, the source said, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
The guards were rushed to Mardin State Hospital and were in good condition, the source added.
Following the attack, security forces started an operation to apprehend the terrorists in the region.
The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU – resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
Since then, more than 700 security force members have been martyred and around 8,000 PKK terrorists killed or apprehended.
