Eleven PKK terrorists have been killed in Turkey’s southeastern Hakkari province, the military said Sunday.
In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said the terrorists were “neutralized” during a counter-terrorism operation Saturday. Five Kalashnikov assault rifles were seized during the operation.
On Sunday, the governor of Hakkari, which borders Iran and Iraq, declared a curfew in Hakkari’s Yuksekova district.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization also by the U.S. and EU -- resumed its 30-year armed campaign against Turkey in July. Since then, more than 290 members of the security forces have been martyred and thousands of terrorists killed.
