MANISA (AA) - March 31, 2013 - Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Sunday said that "with the process of solution, the Turkish nation had a new enthusiasm and excitement".
Ahmet Davutoglu's comments came during a speech he delivered in Salihli town of the western province of Manisa at a training meeting of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party.
"With the process of solution, the Turkish nation had a new enthusiasm and excitement. In my last visit to Diyarbakir, there was a different atmosphere. Eyes were full of hope and individuals were embracing each other," Davutoglu stated.
"God willing, the process of solution in Turkey would end interregnum. Once interregnum ended, we would have one less fetter on our feet," Davutoglu said.
"There is no longer any international issue that could be discussed without the presence of Turkey"
Minister Davutoglu stressed that there was no longer any international issue that could be discussed without the presence of Turkey.
Touching on Turkey's EU bid, Davutoglu emphasized that if the EU opened Turkey's path, they would continue with the EU process with respect.
"EU membership is our strategic goal. If the EU does not open the path for Turkey, everyone can go in the direction they choose. We will see where everyone will go," Davutoglu noted.
On the Israeli apology of March 22 to Turkey, Ahmet Davutoglu said that Israel should know they are equal with all countries and should be able to apologize.
"Turkey does not need the money to arrive from reparations. What is important here is for Israel to pay a price for the fatal raid on the Mavi Marmara aid ship which resulted in the killing of nine Turks in May 2010," Davutoglu said.
-"We are the heirs of a global state"-
Davutoglu underlined that they were the heirs of a global state.
Generations of the future, those coming after us will be citizens of a global state, Davutoglu noted.
"We will have a voice and words to say everywhere in which we have martyrs. We will not recognize borders where we have martyrs and we will not let the borders be walls," Davutoglu said.
"When we mention such words, we are called 'neo-Ottomans'. We respect every value of the Ottomans. We would be honored to be the dust of the feet of our ancestors who got on the roads for those values," Davutoglu also said.
