A Turkish soldier has succumbed to his injuries he received during an ongoing anti-terrorist operation in Turkey's southeastern Diyarbakir province, Turkish military announced Tuesday.
According to the Turkish General Staff’s statement, the soldier died at the hospital after he got injured in PKK terrorist organization's attack in the province’s Sur district.
The military offered its condolences to the martyred soldier’s family and relatives.
Turkey’s southeast has been the scene of a significant anti-terrorist operation since mid-December.
PKK – also seen as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in late July 2015.
Since then, more than 270 members of the security forces have been martyred and thousands of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
