SIRNAK, Turkey
A five-year-old boy lost his life after being hit by stray bullet on his nape in southeastern Turkish province of Sirnak, hospital sources said Monday.
According to the sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity, Huseyin Selcuk was hit by a bullet while he was playing in the garden of his home in the district of Cizre of Sirnak.
A curfew has been in effect in Cizre and Silopi districts since mid-December, in which clashes have opposed security forces and PKK terrorists.
The PKK - considered a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU - resumed its armed campaign in late July.
Since then, more than 200 members of the security forces have been martyred and over 1,700 PKK terrorists killed.
