ANKARA
International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day was celebrated on Wednesday in the Turkish capital Ankara.
President of Turkish Red Crescent Society Ahmet Lutfu Akar said that the Turkish aid group continued providing relief to the vulnerable and those in need regardless of religion, gender and language throughout the world.
Akar said that they delivered help to Somalia, Gaza, Myanmar's Arakan, Sri Lanka and Syria, adding that the Turkish Red Crescent was the biggest non-governmental organization in Turkey and one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the world.
"The Turkish Red Crescent is doing a great job and we are very pleased with it," said Javier Ormeno, a rapporteur with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent.
