ISTANBUL
A Turkish Airlines flight attendant was detained Monday in connection with a recent bomb scare on an international flight.
Turkish Airlines has confirmed that the unidentified employee has been sacked after being held by police in an investigation launched in the wake of a series of bomb threats issued against the airline’s flights.
None of them turned out true, and they have resulted in the diversion and emergency landing of at least four international flights since the end of March.
The flight attendant is accused of writing one of the bomb threat notes found aboard.
Neither the police nor Turkish Airlines have shared details as to the flight in question, but the police are investigating the suspect's possible connection with the rest of the incidents.
A total of five international THY flights diverted or delayed so far this year due to bomb threats.
