ANKARA
Anadolu Agency (AA) Director General and Chairman of the Board Kemal Ozturk said Turkey's press needs to improve to function on a global stage Sunday, at a meeting in the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO).
Ozturk said that Turkey's press is going through its most difficult period in the last 50 years.
"Journalism has been easy and superficial with Google," said Ozturk. "Reading a book and making research from it have a deepness and we suggest books for our all personnel to read. If we don't catch this deepness, a low may occur in the quality of journalism."
Ozturk also said that AA was announcing its voice to the world by covering the region's major news, like events at Egypt's Rabaa Square and the photos of alleged massacres and torture in Syria.
"We mark the regions where crisis, terror and war occur on a world map at AA Editor's Desk. Eighty-five percent of the marked regions are from Muslim countries, which makes our burden heavier," he said.
