ANKARA
Turkish dailies on Wednesday covered the bugging devices found in the Turkish Prime Minister's study room, the aftermath of the protests in the Middle Eastern Technical University (METU) and Turkey's EU accession process with Ireland's term presidency. The Anadolu Agency does not verify these stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.
Most of the Turkish dailies covered the bug found in the study room of the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Daily HURRIYET wrote that the bug was placed by a professional and it was a reflector rather than a recorder meaning that someone was continuously listening outside his house. Erdogan did not want to continue discussing the issue and said, "We can not claim that we have ended deep state. It is like a virus, when the appropriate conditions are provided it re-appears."
Another topic covered by most of the Turkish dailies was the debates following the protests of METU students upon the Turkish Prime Minister's visit. "Dangerous confrontation" headlined daily MILLIYET in regards to 40 rectorships' criticism of the protest in METU wile the Higher Education Council initiated an investigation and many academic members defended METU students.
Lastly, some of the Turkish dailies covered Turkey's EU accession process which was suspended during the Greek Cypriots EU term presidency, to liven up with Ireland taking over term presidency on January 1. France gave the message to Ireland that they could work on two chapters that they have previously blocked.
