WASHINGTON
White House spokesperson Jay Carney described bomb attack on US embassy in Turkey's capital, Ankara, "an act of terror."
In a daily press briefing at the White House, Carney said the suicide bombing at the embassy was "by definition a terrorist attack."
The suicide attack inside a security checkpoint at the US Embassy in Ankara killed the suicide bomber and a security guard, and wounded a woman.
Turkey "a very important ally in combating terrorism"
Carney also said Turkey and United States worked in close cooperation in combatting terrorism, saying a deadly suicide bomb attack on US Embassy in the Turkish capital would strengthen joint commitment between the two nations.
"We strongly condemn what was a suicide attack against our embassy in Ankara and -- which took place at the embassy's outer security perimeter [...] We'll work closely and are working closely with Turkish authorities to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those killed and injured, and we greatly appreciate the support we have received from our Turkish friends in responding to this terrible tragedy," Carney told a daily press briefing.

Meanwhile Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu spoke to his US counterpart Hillary R. Clinton over the suicide bombing at the US Embassy in Ankara, the Turkish capital.
AA sources said Davutoglu had expressed sadness over the suicide blast at a checkpoint outside the embassy compound that killed the bomber and a security guard. A woman was also seriously wounded.
Davutoglu also underlined Turkey stood in solidarity with the US, adding that an investigation was underway into the attack.
