British Minister of State for Business and Enterprise Michael Fallon has said, "Turkey's resistance for the recession is more now and most importantly despite the recession, it has kept growing. We as Britain would like to succeed it too."
Replying the questions of AA, Fallon said, "Turkey has performed well during the recession. Turkey does not have budget deficit problems like other European countries. Public finance during the recession period was managed well in Turkey."
Speaking about Turkey's economic management strategies, he stressed, "Turkey has more resistance for the economic downturn and most importantly despite the recession, it has kept growing economically. We as Britain would like to succeed it too."
Despite the deepening debt crisis in Europe he stated that he finds Turkey's growth successful and he added that it gives positive signals for the future. He noted that more British companies would like to take part in this growth.
Fallon highlighted that there are significant opportunities in Turkey and they decided on their targets already, he added, "We wish to double the trade volume between Turkey and Britain. In 2010 it was 6 billion British pounds and now trade volume has reached 9 billion British pounds. We would like to increase that to 12 billion British pounds by 2015."
