Some people were killed and others wounded on Sunday during clashes between the Lebanese militant movement Hezbollah and Syrian militants in an eastern Lebanon town, a senior Lebanese security source said.
The source, who asked not to be named, told Anadolu Agency that violent clashes had erupted on Sunday when a group of Syrian militants attacked a Hezbollah gathering point in the vicinity of the eastern Lebanon Brital town.
He said a large number of Hezbollah fighters and Syrian militants were killed and wounded during the showdown.
The source said Hezbollah had responded to the attack by striking with its heavy artillery points from which the Syrian militants had come.
A Hezbollah source, meanwhile, said the clashes had left a number of movement fighters dead along with scores of Syrian militants and "terrorists."
Similar clashes erupt between Hezbollah, which fights alongside the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Syria, and the Syrian opposition, which struggles to end more than four decades of rule over Syria by the al-Assad family.
