CAIRO (AA) – An Egyptian army officer was killed and another injured in an attack on an army patrol near the canal city of Ismailia on Friday.
Gunmen driving a 4x4 car opened fire on the army on the Ismailia-Cairo desert road.
Attackers fled the scene after exchanging fire with army troops.
A manhunt has been launched for the attackers.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
Egyptian authorities have yet to comment on the attack.
Attacks against army and police forces have escalated since the July 3 ouster of elected President Mohamed Morsi by the military.
