A Palestinian under arrest in a Palestine jail in Gaza for "collaborating with Israel" told his "spying story" to AA correspondent on Tuesday, wishing to remain anonymous.
The adventure of the Palestinian informant started in 2008 when he wanted to get admission into Israel for a medical operation, as he told.
Rejected for entering into Israel, the Palestinian informant received a call from someone claiming to be a human rights representative in Israel. The voice on the line offered him help with the admission, with which he could get the required admission in a short time and go under the operation he needed.
"Soon after returning to Gaza, I reentered Israel for routine medical controls. As I lacked money, I decided to use my admission to work in Israel to earn my living. After I rejected to hand in my admission, I received a call and was taken to an apartment in which there were three people from Israeli intelligence who used aliases.'We don't want much from you, just to deliver this money to the designated places in Gaza,'they said. I thought it would be a one-off easy task," he said. But he noted that they threatened him to to do another task when he went to Gaza. "First they helped my treatment then threatened to kill my child and wife," he also stated.
The Palestinian informant said the Israeli intelligence benefited from him to get intelligence about the tunnels used by Palestinian resistance groups, group leaders, politicians and insurgents. "I meant to quit but couldn't find a way out," he said.
"My life as an informant came to no good"
While collaborating with Israel, he said he performed dangerous duties like "When they are finished with you, they dismiss you as a used handkerchief," he added. He also said his life as an informant came to no good.
The Palestinian government in Gaza stated on last Tuesday that those collaborating with Israel would be forgiven if they surrendered. The Speaker of the Interior Ministry of the Palestinian Government in Gaza Islam Shahwan announced at a press conference that they opened the gates for regretful ones, the treatment would be in secret and the gates would be open until April 11th.
Haniyeh warns spies
Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas leader and prime minister of the Palestinian government in Gaza warned against all those who works for the Israeli intelligence service and underlines they will not allow security violations.
At the graduation ceremony of the police academy, Haniyeh told, "There is no mercy for anybody who committed treason and sabotage the resistance. If they regret, we refer them to Allah and forgive them."
He reminded that the place where the graduating ceremony took place was an Israeli jail from 1967-1994 where he and other Palestinian activists were imprisoned.
