KHARTOUM
South Sudan President Salva Kiir arrived in Khartoum on Tuesday for talks with Sudanese counterpart Omar al-Bashir, with economy and security experts expecting the visit would boost bilateral relations and cooperation.
The official visit, at which the two heads of state are expected to discuss means of enhancing bilateral cooperation, came at the invitation of al-Bashir.
Kiir is being accompanied during the trip by several government ministers – including the ministers of foreign affairs, security, interior, international cooperation and oil – in addition to scores of South Sudanese businessmen.
A South Sudanese delegation had already arrived in Khartoum a few days ago to prepare the grounds for the summit.
In an earlier interview with Anadolu Agency, Presidential Press Secretary Emad Sayed Ahmed said the meeting would tackle the issues of oil, security and other potential fields of cooperation.
