ISTANBUL
Muhammad Mukhtar Ash-Shinqitee, one of the leading political analysts of Arab world, has said that Turkey should have political, military and diplomatic influence over the incidents in Syria.
Speaking to AA, Ash-Shinqitee said that Turkey was taking lessons from clashes between Arabs and Iran, and avoiding any sectarian clashes. He added that although Turkey was trying to remain distant towards the clashes, it would not be able to ignore a burning house along its border.
If Assad regime and PKK gain a victory, Turkey would face a stronger PKK problem that may continue for years. Turkey should prevent PKK from benefiting from the chaos milieu and the power vacuum in Syria, said Ash-Shinqitee.
Noting that Syria was harming the whole Islamic world, Ash-Shinqitee said that in the past, a few Arab administrations were opposing Iran, but today Muslim people were also against Iran because Iran was supporting Bashar al-Assad and standing against Syrian people who had been friendly to Iran throughout the history.
Ash-Shinqitee said that transition from oppressive regimes to free system had always been painful and bloody, adding that Arab Spring has just begun.
Turkey was a lucky country in this aspect. Democratization process in Turkey was made by peaceful ways, he said.
