At least five suspected militants were killed and three others were injured in a US drone strike at a house and a car in North Waziristan’s Shawwal valley on Sunday evening, a senior Pakistani military official said.
The official told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity that at least four missiles were fired from a US drone that struck a house, believed to be a militant hideout, and a nearby car in the Valley.
The Shawwal Valley lies on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and is considered a hub of various terrorist groups, including the anti-Pakistan group, the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan.
Pakistan army is currently in the middle of a large-scale military operation called ‘Zarb-i-Azm’ against the terrorist groups in North Waziristan.
This is the ninth drone strike in North Waziristan since the start of 2014, which has reportedly killed over 60 suspected militants.
