ISTANBUL
A traffic accident on the Metrobus lane in central Istanbul early Tuesday has left five people dead and five others wounded, police said.
A car crashed into a Metrobus -- a bus which operates in exclusive lanes for the majority of its route -- in Kadikoy district when it entered the Metrobus lane near the Sogutlucesme stop.
All five passengers in the car, including two female, died.
The injured were taken to Haydarpasa and Medeniyet University Goztepe training and research hospitals.
Police identified two of the male passengers as Talha Uzun and Huseyin Yildirim. The identities of the other victims were not disclosed.
An investigation into the incident has been launched.
