Turkish Airlines has sponsored the creation of the world's tallest sandcastle in Miami, the airline said in statement on Tuesday.
The airline, which has just started service between Istanbul and Miami, asked seven-time Guiness World Record holder Ted Siebert, owner of the Sand Sculpture Company, to build the sand skyscraper.
The sandcastle stands at 45 feet, 10.25 inches (about 13.97 meters), taller than Siebert's previous record which was at 41 feet, 3.67 inches (about 12.5 meters).
The sandcastle required more than 1,800 tons of sand and took approximately 2 weeks to complete, and measured 4,500 square feet (418 square meters) in size.
Siebert was aided by 19 sculptors from around the world to break the sandcastle record, which was officially awarded by Guiness World Records.
Turkish Airlines service between Miami to Istanbul began on Sunday.
The Florida city is Turkish Airlines' 12th destination in the Americas. Flights between Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport and Miami International Airport will operate seven days a week
