DIYARBAKIR, Turkey
The explosives planted by PKK terrorists in a street in Turkey's southeastern province of Diyarbakir wounded five children, local security sources said Monday.
The minors aged between 11 and 16 were passing by when the bomb was detonated, leaving them with injuries, the sources said. All were carried to a hospital nearby, and two of them were later transferred to Dicle University Medical Faculty Hospital.
An investigation is under way, sources added.
Meanwhile, in another southeastern province, Sirnak, two soldiers were wounded by PKK members attacking them by long barreled weapons, security sources said. The injured soldiers were sent to a military hospital in the province. A search for the perpetrators is continuing.
In the meantime, two terrorists fleeing from the PKK in Sirnak province surrendered to security forces, the Governor’s Office said in a statement. It added that 939 people have surrendered to security forces in Sirnak since March 21, 2013.
In another explosion by PKK terrorists, five soldiers were lightly injured in Turkey's eastern Bitlis province.
The Governor of Bitlis, Ahmet Cinar told Anadolu Agency that the bomb planted in a storm drain was detonated by the terrorists in Tatvan district during the passing of the vehicle carrying ranked soldiers.
"The wounded soldiers were taken to Tatvan Military Hospital. Their condition is non-life-threatening. An operation to catch the terrorists has been launched," Cinar said.
Following a suicide bomb attack in July -- blamed on Daesh -- in the southeastern province of Sanliurfa that killed over 30 people, the terrorist PKK organization has renewed armed attacks especially targeting Turkish military and police forces.
Since July, more than 100 members of the security forces have been martyred and hundreds of PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq, including airstrikes.
