A major fire broke out earlier this week aboard the USS Higgins, a US Navy guided-missile destroyer, knocking out its electricity and propulsion systems, according to a report Thursday.
CBS News, citing US officials, said that no injuries were reported among the crew members as of Wednesday.
The cause of the fire and the ship’s exact location in the Indo-Pacific region remain unclear, officials reportedly said, adding the extent of the damage and repair timeline are still unknown.
The USS Higgins, part of the Navy’s forward-deployed forces in Asia, was last known to have been docked in Singapore earlier this year, according to vessel tracking data cited in the report.
