MOSCOW
Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov slammed Wednesday the United Nations report that detailed the August 21 chemical weapons attack as "one-sided" and "incomplete."
"The inspectors only looked at evidence of an alleged attack on 21 August, not three previous incidents," Sergei Ryabkov told Russia Today after meeting with Syrian officials in Damascus.
He described the report as "one sided" and "politicised."
The UN team found that the nerve agent Sarin was used in the 21 August attack.
The report did not assign blame for the attack but Western nations blame the government forces.
The Syrian government denies allegations holding it responsible, blaming rebels instead.
Under a deal broked by Russia and US, Damascus is preparing to disclose its chemical weapons within a week and eliminate them by mid-2014.
Earlier Tuesday, Ryabkov met with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem to discuss the the deal.
Russian deputy minister said that Syria has given Russia new "material evidence" that opposition fighters in the Syrian conflict have used chemical weapons.
1,429 people including 426 children were killed on 21 August in a chemical attack, according to US figures.
Since the uprising against President Assad began in 2011, more than 100,000 people died across Syria.
